demonstrating the strategic importance of travel and tourism globally, the Washington, DC-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) just published the “Global Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality as a Strategic Sector for Development and Security Report,” which I co-authored with Daniel Runde, Senior VP of CSIS and Director of the Project on Prosperity and Development. This report is really just the tip of the iceberg in terms of analyzing how the industry positively and negatively impacts global development and security.
